The injured were taken to Jangipur Divisional Hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred around 3.30pm on Ahiron Bridge over a feeder canal in Suti police station area. All the students hailed from the same residential area, Sahapara village, located approximately 5km from the accident spot.

According to a local source, the group of five teens was filming reels on the Ahiron bridge along the Azimganj-Farakka railway track. One was recording a video on a mobile device, while the others were dancing. Tragedy struck when a goods train en route from Jangipur to Farakka approached, killing three and leaving two critically injured.

Spotting the approaching train, Akash and Rohit leapt from the bridge and suffered leg injuries. However, the other three teens were unable to evade the train's path and were run over.

Mohammad Ali, the father of Amaul, said his son had recently returned home after completing exams at a private school in Suti.

"Amaul studied in a boarding school and returned home two days ago. When he left home he told us he was going for a motorbike ride. He and his friend would have been in Class X next year. But now everything is over for him and us. Our dream has been shattered."

A police officer said: "We rushed to the spot. Youths are risking their lives to get popularity on social media. This trend has to be stopped."
