The Border Security Force (BSF) posted at the India-Bangladesh border in north Bengal conducted a joint raid with the North Dinajpur police on Tuesday evening and nabbed three Bangladeshis who had infiltrated into India and had taken shelter at the house of a local.

They raided the house of Guljar Alam, a local, and found the trio. During preliminary investigation, it was found that the Bangladeshis had infiltrated into India and were covertly staying at Alam’s house. They had plans to leave for Punjab to earn their livelihoods. Those intercepted from the house were Md Ismail, Md Musarul and Rana Parvez, all residents of the Thakurgaon district of Bangladesh.

Three cell phones were recovered from their possession. Later, the infiltrators were handed over to Raiganj police station.

“With the change in the political situation in Bangladesh, the troops have been put on high alert and the police have also been asked to be vigilant at the border villages to prevent infiltration,” said a source.

Also, people dwelling in the bordering villages have been asked to inform the BSF or the police in case they come across any suspected Bangladeshi national.
