The CPM-backed Calcutta University Teachers’ Association will observe ceasework on November 19.
Teachers at Rabindra Bharati University, too, will join the protest that day.
More than 15,000 college and university teachers are likely to join the protest.
Chief minister Mamata Banerjee had on Tuesday announced that college and university teachers would be paid according to the recommendations of the seventh pay commission from January 1, 2020.
Teachers were expecting that the hike would come into effect from January 1, 2016, when the human resource development ministry had notified that the recommendations would be implemented.
