The driver of the truck is absconding, as per reports.

Adhikari is however safe despite the clash that took place at around 2 pm.

Adhikari took off from his residence at Kanthi at around 1.30 pm to inaugurate a Rath Yatra before his convoy met with the accident. BJP has demanded a probe into the incident stating it was a ploy against the Leader of Opposition.

The ruling Trinamul has however refuted such allegations.

Later Adhikari tweeted, "A heavy vehicle rammed into a CRPF escort car of my convoy. By the grace of Lord Jagannath no body was hurt.I am not injured & would continue attending scheduled events.I am grateful for the innumerous calls enquiring about my well being & would assure everyone that I am fine."
