Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday accused four Trinamul Congress leaders in South 24-Parganas, including an MLA, of owning illegal assets and vowed that he would expose the alleged corruption of the ruling party in all districts of Bengal in coming days.

Adhikari said he had collated data of 100 such Trinamul leaders across the state.“Honourable chief minister had claimed at a recent meeting that 99.99 per cent Trinamul workers are honest. I’ll prove that 99.99 per cent of Trinamul is corrupt. What you’re seeing today is just the tip of the iceberg,” Adhikari said.

“The value of all properties I’m talking about will be more than Rs 50 crore. But then, Trinamul leaders don’t pay full stamp duty hence there is a problem. I believe if these are valued by a competent assessor, their value will be around Rs 150 to 200 crore,” Adhikari said.

The Nandigram MLA held a news conference in the Assembly where he brought huge bundles of documents, which he claimed were proof of the disproportionate and illegal assets of these leaders and said that he would send them to the Enforcement Directorate on Saturday.

All the four leaders — Kultali MLA Ganesh Chandra Mondal, PWD office-bearer of South 24-Parganas zilla parishad Jahangir Khan and ruling party leaders Samim Ahmed Molla and Gautam Adhikari — are residents of South 24-Parganas.

“This is the Diamond Harbour model,” Adhikari said.“In fact, the property of Samim Ahmed Molla actually belongs to Mr. S Roy, the PA to Abhishek Banerjee (Diamond Harbour MP). Mr. Roy acquired these benami properties through Samim,” Adhikari said.

“I’ll bring forth everything over time,” he added. The Kultali MLA, however, rejected Adhikari's claims. He said the allegations of Adhikar were “baseless”.“Whatever property I have is reflected in my income tax return... I would like to request Suvendubabu to bring forth the details of illegal properties owned by himself, his father and his brother,” the MLA said.
