Parents of children with learning disabilities on Monday appealed to the central and state governments to instruct education boards to introduce digital question papers and equip every school with tabs and computers with which they could study properly.

They also demanded that the governments take necessary measures to stop the use of pen and paper in exams for the special students.

Parents of children suffering from autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia, cerebral palsy, mental retardation and other problems and their teachers attended a programme here on Monday on the occasion of World Disability Day.

The programme was organised by the Kalyani Life Institute, a forum of parents that imparts app-based education to special children.

“Children who suffer from mental disabilities react strongly when they get to see live objects. This is because the mode of learning is quite interactive. In the mobile apps, study materials have audio and video and they create excitement among children and motivate them to learn and reply. But if they study with pen and paper, they find it non-interesting,” said Arun Prasad, a doctor and the father of a special child.

He is also an advisor to the Kalyani Life Institute.
