The Trinamul board of Siliguri Municipal Corporation will take steps to streamline the collection of parking fees from the city's 32 parking lots.

Recently, several vehicle owners complained that private agencies tasked by the SMC to collect parking fees charged more than the official rates.

In Siliguri, the hourly parking rate for a two-wheeler is Rs 5, and for a car, Rs 10. For every extra hour, it is Rs 2 for a two-wheeler and Rs 10 for a car.

“In each parking lot, details of the parking arena, rates and the name of the authorised agency collecting the fees will be mentioned. Each collector will have an identity card,” said deputy mayor Ranjan Sarkar. Munna Prasad, the member mayor-in-council (parking), said authorised slips for parking fees would be introduced.
