The Siliguri Engineers’ and Architects’ Association will organise a four-day conclave here on the real estate industry next week to exhibit various developments in the sector and discuss various issues pertaining to it.
Named CREATECH PRACHURYA-2023, the event will start on Thursday at a Sevoke Road venue and will continue till May 14. The Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (Credai) has teamed up with the association for the event.
“This is the first–of–its–kind event to be organised by stakeholders of the real estate industry in Siliguri. Over the years, there has been a boom in the sector in and around the city. The success story of the industry and the way forward will be elaborated during the event,” said Avik Chakraborty, joint secretary of the organising committee.
He said that during the event, experts, representatives of major realty groups, and companies that manufacture products used in the sector, will be present under one roof.
“Experts from different parts of the country, including faculty members of prominent engineering institutions, will speak on an array of issues. Among these include trends in modern construction, safety measures, waste management, and water usage. Also, the entire north Bengal is located under seismic zone IV (a high-damage risk zone for earthquakes). It is necessary to learn from experts how to minimise damage,” added Chakraborty.
Along with technical sessions and seminars on various aspects of the sector, there will be an exhibition of related products.
Kalikinkar Roy, a senior member of the engineers' fraternity in the city, said they would also conduct interactive sessions on sustainable urbanisation.
“Rapid urbanisation is on across Darjeeling district and adjoining areas of Jalpaiguri district. Hundreds of commercial and residential buildings are coming up. During the event, we will also explore options for sustainable urbanisation, keeping in mind the rich biodiversity of our region,” Roy said.
