Siliguri cops bust Indian Premier League bet scam

The special operation group of Siliguri Metropolitan Police in association with a team of Siliguri police station on Tuesday busted an online betting racket of ongoing Indian Premier League cricket tournament.

Police arrested four persons from Subhashpally, a prominent residential area of Siliguri.

These four youths were allegedly running the racket. Cash, cell phones and a diary have been seized from them.

“The quartet had been involved in online betting at a barber shop on Tuesday evening. We acted on specific information and raided the barber shop. All four if them were nabbed red-handed. Around Rs 1.66 lakh in cash, seven cell phones and a diary were recovered from them,” said a police officer.

Those arrested are Shankar Shil of Madhya Shantinagar, Gour Kundu of Purba Chayanpara, and Biplab Majumder and Arindam Saha, both of whom are from Dabgram.

These are all locations in Siliguri. All four are aged between 20s and 30s.
