She has a habit of daydreaming: BJP on Mamata Banerjee's 'unstable' jibe at NDA government

The BJP sharply criticised Mamata Banerjee for claiming at her July 21 rally that the BJP-led NDA government was "unstable" and might soon collapse, demanding her resignation because of the "complete breakdown" of the state's democratic infrastructure.

Reacting to Mamata’s statement that this NDA government was dependent on several corrupt, opportunist allies and would collapse, BJP leader Agnimitra Paul said: “Mamata Banerjee has the habit of daydreaming. She needs to remember that this NDA government was there in 2014, 2019 and in 2024."

"She might think of becoming the Prime Minister of the country with 29 MPs but that is not going to happen," she said, adding that Trinamool thrives on threatening people, "appeasement" politics and developing a mechanism of institutionalised corruption.

“First, let her protect her own government in the state and then she will think of pulling down the BJP government from the centre,” the BJP's chief Bengal spokesperson and Rajya Sabha member Samik Bhattacharya said.

On Sunday, the chief minister warned all public representatives against inflicting or tolerating injustice, urging them to work for the people, while claiming that the party even ensures the arrest of TMC members.

“She is now trying to create an image of honesty. The party has given shelters to criminals. She has openly stood beside people who are accused to serious crimes like murder and rape. There has been rampant looting of votes across the state during panchayat elections. She should resign first,” Bhattacharya said.

“The democratic infrastructure of the state has collapsed. There is no federal structure in this state. There is no courtesy of parliamentary democracy. The assembly is there but there is no politics,” he added.

CPM state secretary Md. Salim said: “There are some politicians like Suvendu Adhikari and Mamata Banerjee who are hypocrites to the core."

"Now she is talking about cleansing the party and asking members to ride bicycles and walk. What has she been doing so far? Look at the contradiction — she travels by helicopter, and Abhishek Banerjee comes on chartered flights, yet she asks others to make sacrifices. This is just deception and nothing else," he added.

The BJP observed the “Murder of Democracy Day’ on Sunday and burned effigies of Mamata and city mayor Firhad Hakim. The party also organised a mass movement to protest against the post-poll violence and reign of terror by the TMC.

“Today @BJP4Bengal Karyakartas observed "Murder of Democracy Day" at more than 200 places across the State to protest against the post-poll violence and reign of terror by the TMC Party,” leader of the opposition Suvendu Adhikari posted on X.
