Soma Bandyopadhyay, the vice-chancellor of the West Bengal University of Teachers’ Training, will helm the Sanskrit College and University for the time being.
The post of VC at the fledgling Sanskrit College and University, off College Square, has been vacant since the tenure of interim VC Paula Banerjee ended on September 14.
The higher education department named Bandyopadhyay as “vice-chancellor with additional responsibility” of the Sanskrit College and University on Tuesday.
‘I have received the order. Once the university reopens on October 16 after Puja break, I will take charge of the Sanskrit College and University,” said Bandyopadhyay, who is a member of the council of the university and had served as registrar of Calcutta University.
The Sanskrit university is now functioning without a VC, registrar and the finance officer. The tenure of the acting registrar and finance officer had ended on September 18.
