Situated at a height of 11,930 feet on the Singalila ridge, Sandakphu is the highest point in Bengal. The ridge is the default border between Nepal and India along the Sandakphu trail.

Sandakphu, which offers a stunning view of the entire Kanchenjunga range and from where Mt Everest, Mt Lhotse and Mt Makalu can also be seen, is a favourite spot among adventure-loving tourists visiting the Darjeeling hills.

Sandakphu is only accessible by foot, or in four-wheel-drive vehicles okayed by the administration. Along the trail runs a batch of the first vintage Series 1 Land Rovers, which are slowly dying out even there.
