The special operation group (SOG) of the Siliguri Metropolitan Police and a team of Bhaktinagar police, arrested five persons with narcotics in two separate raids in Siliguri on Wednesday night.

Police sources said four persons were intercepted with 300 grams of brown sugar, a derivative of heroin, worth around Rs 30 lakh from Jhankar More.

The arrested youths have been identified as Sourav Roy, Raju Muhammad, Koustav Talapatra and Ali, all residents of Siliguri.

In another raid, the police arrested Ashik Biswas, a resident of Shastrinagar here, and recovered five kilos of cannabis from him.

The quartet have been booked under the NDPS Act, police sources said.
