The police said the complainant alleged that Kabir had threatened to murder him and even attacked him after barging into his office on the campus of State Health University in Salt Lake in September 2022.

The complainant said he had been receiving threats from unknown persons over telephone at his office and even outside and alleged that Kabir was behind it.

“A case has been drawn up at Bidhannagar north police station based on the complainant against Humayun Kabir under six separate sections of the IPC,” said a senior police officer of the Bidhannagar police commissionerate.

Last Saturday, after the rural polls got over, Kabir, a former IPS officer, saidTrinamul leader AbhishekBanerjee had said the polls would not witness any bloodshed.

“But that’s not what has happened. My head hangs in shame,” Kabir, who joined the party ahead of the Assembly elections in 2021, said.

“Some will get elected and become pradhans and panchayat samity heads. But what will happen to the families who lost their loved ones ?”

Kabir could not be contacted on Friday for his reaction to the case.
