PC Chandra Group felicitates 53 Madhyamik toppers with scholarships

PC Chandra Group, one of Eastern India's leading business groups, awarded scholarships to 53 district toppers of the Madhyamik Examination 2024 from 23 districts of West Bengal. The initiative, part of their Jahar Lal Chandra Merit Scholarship Program, marked its 11th successful year with a ceremony held at PC Chandra Gardens.

A scholarship of Rs 50,000 each was handed over to the toppers in the presence of Dr. Indrani Sen, renowned singer and former Principal of Women's College, Calcutta, and Uday Kumar Chandra, Managing Director of PC Chandra Jewellers.

The scholarship program was launched in 2014 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the PC Chandra Group and honour the memory of Late Jahar Lal Chandra, the Group’s former chairman. It aims to inspire bright young minds and promote educational excellence across the state.

Speaking at the event, Uday Kumar Chandra said, “It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you all to the 11th edition of the Jahar Lal Chandra Merit Scholarship Programme. This scholarship was established to honour the memory of Shri Jahar Lal Chandra, the co-founder and visionary behind the PC Chandra Group. On the occasion of his birthday, we pay tribute to his legacy of integrity, ethical values, and dedication to excellence—principles that have been the foundation of our organisation and the larger PC Chandra family of employees, workers, and loyal customers.”

The scholarship reflects the Group’s dedication to social welfare and education. To empower the society with the essential tool of education, the special initiative of Jahar Lal Chandra Merit Scholarship was taken by the Group with the motto of encouraging excellence.

The toppers who received the scholarship include Swarnali Ghosh (North 24 Parganas) and Pranjal Ganguly (North 24 Parganas) with an aggregate score of 684, Nairit Ranjan Pal (South 24 Parganas) with 691, Jenibha Mandal (South 24 Parganas) with 683, and Swarnava Datta (Alipurduar) with 680, among others.

The PC Chandra Group, which began its journey in the jewellery business, has diversified into adhesives, hospitality, software, real estate, rubber plantations, and more.
