The meeting at NRS Medical College and Hospital continued for four hours on Sunday but the mood on the campus was relaxed since morning, in contrast with the tension that had been prevailing over the past few days.
Many junior doctors, some of whom attended the meeting, said they were hopeful that the impasse would be over soon.
The meeting was held in the academic building of NRS. Junior doctors, in small groups as well as individually, were loitering around the building.

A large group came out of the building around 4.30pm, indicating that the meeting had ended. Soon after, a spokesperson for the agitators read out a statement. “We want this impasse to end immediately through talks with the honourable chief minister, which, to maintain transparency, should not be held behind closed doors,” the message read.
A junior doctor who attended the meeting said most of the participants held that there was no point in dragging the deadlock any further.
While the meeting was on, one or two junior doctors came out of the building occasionally, speaking on the phone. “Just wait for some more time, a solution will soon emerge,” one of them was heard saying.
