North Bengal University table tennis players win bronze medal at Khelo India games

According to varsity sources, the NBU paddlers defeated the team of Calcutta University, 3-1, in quarterfinal and qualified in semifinal against Chandigarh University

Siliguri: Table tennis players of North Bengal University have won a bronze medal in the Khelo India University Games at Guwahati, Assam.

According to varsity sources, the NBU paddlers defeated the team of Calcutta University, 3-1, in the quarterfinal and qualified in the semifinal against Chandigarh University.

“But in the semifinal, the NBU boys lost to the Chandigarh team, 3-2. Thus, they secured the bronze medal,” said Bibekananda Ghosh, assistant secretary of the sports board of the NBU.

Sinchan Sarkar, Samrik Saha, Soumyadeep Sarkar, Kaushik Chhetri and
Jayabrata Bhattacharya from Siliguri College represented the NBU team that won bronze at the event held at Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium in Guwahati.

Shantanu Bose and Dulal Goswami were team manager and coach, respectively.

The Union ministry of sports and youth affairs is hosting the Khelo India University Games this year across the Northeast states.

The Games, which started on February 19, would end on February 29.
