Mukul Roy and Sovan Chatterjee, the BJP’s biggest catches from the Trinamul camp, were not present at a key organisational meeting of their new party on Tuesday.

According to BJP sources, the party’s MPs and MLAs from Bengal, state unit presidents and functionaries and two Union ministers had been invited to the meeting.

Asked about Chatterjee’s absence, Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh said: “He had been invited. I have no clue why he was not there. I will ask him about it.”

Ghosh said Roy was in Delhi, but didn’t elaborate.
