BJP leader Mukul Roy’s car was searched in Calcutta twice within the space of a few minutes on Sunday when he returned from Delhi after voting in the capital.
The first check was just after Roy came out of the airport. He was asked by police to get off and told it was “a routine search in the poll season”. “I fully cooperated with the police. They did not find anything significant,” Roy said.
A few kilometres down VIP Road, the car was stopped again at Kaikhali. “Such searches, within a few minutes, are politically motivated,” Roy said later.
