Mohan as Cooch Behar Heritage Marathon's event mascot

The marathon will start from Cooch Behar Palace and end at the district police line ground, covering routes fringed with heritage buildings

Cooch Behar district police on Saturday announced the Cooch Behar Heritage Marathon and unveiled (in picture) Mohan — critically-endangered black-shelled turtle found in the district — as the event’s mascot.

The marathon would be held on December 10. Athlete Swapna Barman, district police chief Sumit Kumar and others announced the event and unveiled T-shirts, medals and routes and also gave details of the prizes.

The event will have three categories — a 21.1km-run and a 10km run, which are open for male and female runners, and a 10km-run for armed forces. The winner of the 21.1km-run will win a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.
