Senior officials of Siliguri Metropolitan Police said on Sunday the two women from Chopra in North Dinajpur took the baby from NBMCH.

The police formed a special team comprising personnel from the detective department, special operations group, Matigara police and the police outpost at the NBMCH to probe the case.

“The team recovered the baby from Chopra. CCTV cameras helped us track the woman,” said Subhendra Kumar, the additional deputy commissioner of Siliguri Metropolitan Police, referring to the childless woman’s mother who allegedly took away the baby for her daughter.
