Semen, saliva and hair recovered from the body of the victim and the scene of the crime have matched with those of Sanjay Roy, the civic volunteer arrested by Kolkata Police for the rape and murder on August 9 of the postgraduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, the charge sheet against him says.
“The injuries found on the body of the accused are blunt force injuries consistent with the marks of resistance/struggle by the victim,” says the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) charge sheet.

The 45-page charge sheet also says Roy’s presence at RG Kar Medical College & Hospital and also at the third floor of emergency building during the intervening night of August 8 and 9 “is proved by way of CCTV footages [sic]”.
The charge sheet says his DNA had been found on the victim and “the short hair found from the SoC has matched with accused Sanjay Roy”.
The charge sheet mentions the bluetooth headphone recovered from near the doctor’s body as belonging to Roy.
The charge sheet says that “during investigation conducted so far, involvement of accused Sanjay Roy has been clearly established in the commission of offences punishable under sections 64, 66, 103(1) of BNS, 2023”.
The charge sheet mentions the arrested duo of Sandip Ghosh and Abhijit Mondal, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital and officer in-charge of Tala police station respectively.
“The acts /omissions on the part of Abhijit Mondal, the then SHO Tale and Sandip Ghosh, the then Principal of R G Kar MC&H with regard to attempt to hush up the matter, destruction of evidence have surfaced and both of them have been arrested and presently, are in Judicial Custody. Investigation against them on the aspect of larger conspiracy including in-depth investigation on the aspect of involvement of others, if any, in the commission of crime or its abetment is in progress u/s 193(9) of BNSS, 2023,” the charge sheet says.
It adds: “After completion of further investigation, supplementary Final Report will be filed.”
The charge sheet also details Sanjay Roy’s movements through the night and mentions that he and another civic volunteer, Saurav Bhattacharya, visited a red-light area in Chetla.
Sanjay Roy “drank only beer” there although his partner civic volunteer did avail of the services on offer, the charge sheet says.
Roy reached the third floor of RG kar Medical College and Hospital at 4:03am on August 9 and left at 4:32am, per the charge sheet.
