Mamata Banerjee posted a poem titled Lojjito (Ashamed) on Facebook on Friday evening.
Although the Trinamul Congress chief did not take credit for it, sources in her party said she wrote it herself.
The Bengali poem is apparently critical of the BJP for its alleged role in vandalising the bust of Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar at Vidyasagar College in Calcutta on Tuesday evening, during BJP chief Amit Shah’s road show.
Posted at 7.46pm, the poem went viral in a matter of minutes.
Lojjito

Ashamed
You have learnt to break
Not to build
Breaking is your doing,
One must to stop before breaking, Tush tush, there is no shame.
Limbs heal when broken
Hearts don’t,
A mother’s life may end
But she is never lost.
You are playing games with heritage
Don’t play with Bengal,
The awakening of culture is Bengal’s emancipation
Do not treat it with such disdain.
You have the strength of money
And our lives are filled with respect
Vidya’s sagar, we are ashamed
There isn’t the audacity to seek forgiveness!!!!
