Mamata Banerjee has said Trinamul’s block presidents and district presidents have better skills than Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah and lambasted the saffron party for its alleged lack of knowledge of Bengal.
The Trinamul Congress chief on Wednesday asserted that despite the BJP’s bullishness on Bengal, it would not win a single seat in the state.
“Even block presidents of Trinamul have better skills than the All India President of the BJP, Amit Shah. Our district presidents have more skills than Narendra Modi…. Narendra Modi and Amit Shah are spreading lies, without any homework…. The BJP is a feku (lying) party. They are going to fail miserably,” the Bengal chief minister told a rally in Howrah’s Andul.
“The BJP has now set its sight on Bengal. Is it so easy for a party like that, the minds of whose workers are barren like a desert, to make inroads into a state like Bengal? The BJP does not have its ears to the ground, or a finger on the pulse of the people,” she added.
“The BJP will win nothing in Bengal and won’t get power at the Centre either.”
Repeatedly referring to violence and alleged discrimination in the BJP-ruled states such as Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, Mamata advised Modi and Shah to first get the party’s act together elsewhere before “daydreaming” about Bengal.
The Trinamul chief said she would never allow a National Register of Citizens exercise in Bengal as vowed by Modi and Shah.
She called the BJP a party of “thieves and robbers” and accused it of abusing money power to win elections.
“A political party must be well versed in history, geography and culture…. No matter how hard they try, the message has been delivered. Intimidation tactics will not work. Their end is near,” she said.
“They want votes here now, but their government at the Centre has neglected and exploited the state…. Without giving a single paisa here, they take away Rs 50,000 crore from this state in taxes,” she added.
Bringing up the alleged Maoist attack at Gadchiroli in Maharashtra, Mamata attacked the BJP over its “failure” to deal with Left-wing extremism.
