"Biswajit Mandal of Baishnabnagar was stopped while he was heading towards Malda on a two-wheeler. On being frisked, our men found 1,367 FICN, each of 500-rupee denomination. He has been arrested,” said Yadav.

The police have also seized the bike and Mondal's cell phone.

During interrogation, Mondal revealed that the FICN was handed over to him by someone in Baishnabnagar and he was on his way to Sahapur, an area under the Malda police station, to deliver the fake notes.

On Wednesday, Mondal was produced in a local court. The court heard the case and sent him in police custody for five days.
