Malda: 12 persons get life for murder of brick kiln owner

A court in Malda on Thursday sentenced 12 persons to life involved in a 2008 murder case.

Additional district and session judge (first court) Mou Chatterjee pronounced the verdict in the case of brick kiln owner Mozammel Haque, who had been hacked to death on March 19, 2008.

Haque was killed over business rivalry. Forced to get off a train at Bhaluka Road station, he was fatally attacked with sharp weapons and his body parts were thrown away.

Brother killed

William Oraon, 40, of Sankosh tea estate in Kumargram, Alipurduar district, was beaten to death allegedly by his brother Nirmal on Wednesday night. Police said Nirmal had killed the brother in a fit of rage after William ate up the pork cooked by the former’s wife.
