The BJP alleged that the English question paper of the ongoing Madhyamik exam had leaked ahead of the commencement of the test on Friday.

The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE), which conducts the exam, however, termed it as “sabotage” and not a leak.

State BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar told newspersons in Calcutta that the question paper had been circulated on social media from Malda.

“I have also received the question paper which is making rounds on social media. It has been leaked by a teacher who is also a leader of Trinamul’s shiksha cell in Malda. We want the board to initiate a probe,” said Majumdar.

He also tweeted about the issue and posted three pages of the English question paper.

In Malda, similar allegations of leaking question papers of Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations were raised in previous years. Representatives of the board, however, claimed it was sabotage.

Ramanuj Ganguly, the WBBSE president, who reached Malda on Friday to visit examination centres, said some examinees had clicked photos of the question paper and had circulated those after the exam started.

“Three pages of the (16- page) question paper were circulated, almost one-and-a-half hours after the exam began. At that time, the examinees were writing the paper and so, it had no impact. It is sabotage and there is no point in emphasizing it. We have requested the administration to conduct a probe,” he said.

This year, at least three CCTV cameras have been installed in each venue of Malda district. “We will review the surveillance system,” Ganguly added.
