Hariyana Vidya Mandir celebrated its annual day for its junior section in the school auditorium. Dressed variously as flowers, old man and animals, students had a great time on the occasion.
Little roses, daisies, sunflowers and orchids took the stage to show the strong connection between nature and children. “Children are like flowers. They are delicate and need to be nurtured with love. We have tried to spead the message that Mother Nature nurtures us so it is also our duty to love her back and connect with her and allow our kids to go out and enjoy Nature,” said teacher Dahlia Dutta, junior school co-ordinator.
Students of classes three, four and five also performed in the opening song Anondolokey dressed in red saris with garlands around their necks.

Sukumar Ray’s Abak Jalpan was staged by students of classes three, four and five which received huge appreciation from the audience. “I loved performing today and the play was very funny too. Though I did not know the story earlier, I enjoyed the rehearsals and I got to dress up as an old man,” said Class III student Anushka Choudhury who played the role of one of the village old men in the play.
Along with the cultural events, students were also awarded for their performances in three categories — all-round achievement, all-round improvement and general proficiency. “I am very happy to receive this prize. My parents will be happy too as they teach me at home and I really hope I win this prize next year too,” said Soumik Pramanik of Lower KG, who won an award for general proficiency.

“We have divided the annual day celebrations of the students into two parts. Today we are celebrating the annual day of the junior school that is upto Class V. We did this to ensure that we get the maximum participation of students and we are very happy with their enthusiasm to perform and take part in different events,” said principal Sanghamitra Banerjee.
