Local train services in the Barasat-Hansnabad section will be suspended on April 17 and 18 because of the commissioning of the double line between Sondalia and Lebutala stations in North 24-Parganas.
The suspension will be effective from 1am on April 17 up to 11.59pm on April 18.
However, because of this work, ahead of those two days of complete withdrawal of services, some trains on the stretch were cancelled on Thursday. The cancelled trains include two Barasat-Hansnabad local ones, one Sealdah-Barasat local, one Hansnabad-Sealdah local and one Hansnabad-Barasat local. They will stay off tracks till Saturday.
A Barasat-Hasnabad local, a Sealdah–Barasat local, a Hasnabad–Sealdah local and a Hasnabad–Barasat local have been cancelled for Sunday.
The Sealdah-bound Hasnabad local will leave Hasnabad station at 5.10am instead of 4.48am from Thursday to Sunday as a temporary arrangement, an Eastern Railway communiqué said.
A spokesperson for ER said: “Passengers on the Barasat-Hansnabad section will face a tough time because of the vital work of the commissioning of double line. We regret the inconvenience. But it will ensure better service in the future.”
Normal train services will resume on April 19, he added.
The suspension has also been decided for work on the signalling systems between Lebutala and Malataipur stations, sources said.
