The Left Front and the Congress will hold joint protests in all Bengal districts against the petroleum price hike on June 29, it was decided at a meeting on Wednesday.

The Left and Congress leaders said the protests would be first of the many joint programmes the two political forces would take up in the run-up to the Assembly polls next year.

The Congress also proposed a steering committee to help forge a strong alliance between them and the Left Front. However, the Left leadership said such a committee should emerge out of the joint movements.
