On this day, the imaginatively named ship Lady Lushington arrived at Calcutta after sailing from England. This was the second of its four voyages for the East India Company. It reached Saugor (Sagar) on February 26, 1812, and the Downs on September 14.
Other company voyages brought it on this route, too. It made several other voyages in these parts under a licence from the company. On one such voyage, it was carrying 700 bales of cotton. It was operating under a company licence when it was wrecked on August 10, 1821, on the way from Madras (now Chennai) to Calcutta. Many of its crew died.
