Top officials present report on progress of ensuring safe working environment for doctors, to Mamata Banerjee

Sources said progress of all work, including installation of more than 7,000 CCTV cameras, and construction and restoration of more than 300 rest rooms and washrooms for doctors at the medical colleges was satisfactory

Chief minister Mamata Banerjee held a meeting with chief secretary Manoj Pant and health secretary N.S. Nigam at her residence on Thursday evening.

Sources said the bureaucrats presented before the chief minister a detailed report on the progress of the projects that were undertaken to ensure a safe working environment for the doctors at the medical colleges.

“The chief minister had sought a report on the progress of the ongoing projects at the medical colleges. The chief secretary and the health secretary presented the report on Thursday evening,” said a source.

Sources also said the progress of all work, including installation of more than 7,000 CCTV cameras, and construction and restoration of more than 300 rest rooms and washrooms for doctors at the medical colleges was satisfactory.

“Some work at RG Kar is pending as permission from the CBI reached late,” said an official.

The junior doctors are demanding a secured working environment. The Supreme Court, too, has directed a series of measures to ensure a safer working environment for the doctors.
