The father of the 14-year-old girl who has been accused of killing her mother is said to have told police he was forced to sit on a sofa for around three hours while his wife’s lifeless body lay on the bed in an adjoining room after the girl and her 17-year-old friend allegedly killed her.
The boy left the house on the southern fringes of the city at the break of dawn and the father was asked to fetch a doctor an hour later to declare the woman’s death as “normal”, he is said to have told the police.
The police said the man in his 50s went to the local police station on July 29 and said his wife, who died three weeks ago, had been killed by their daughter and her friend.
According to the father’s statement, he was forced to stay out when his daughter’s friend was smothering his wife and then threatened to kill him if he dared to raise his voice.
“He said he was made to sit in the next room for a few hours till he was asked to fetch a doctor. He said he was traumatised and extremely scared,” said a police investigator.
The police said they had examined the doctor who had declared the woman dead on June 6 and gave a death certificate that mentioned she had a heart failure.
“The doctor said the woman was lying on the bed with no signs of violence in the room. The husband had told him that she was sleeping next to him when suddenly she fell ill and that she had a history of ailments. The family made it look like a normal death and the doctor gave the death certificate in good faith, he has said,” another police officer said.
The teenage boy and girl have been sent to government homes after being produced before the Juvenile Justice Board on Tuesday.
