The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday sought permission from the Sealdah court to conduct a polygraph test on assistant sub-inspector Anup Dutta of the Kolkata Police in connection with the rape and murder of the young doctor in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9.
Dutta’s name emerged during the investigation after cops found that Sanjay Roy, the only person arrested so far in the case, had contacted him on the morning of the
incident.
Dutta allegedly extended various favours to Roy.
Roy, a civic volunteer of the Kolkata Police, was provided a bed in the barracks of the fourth battalion of the Kolkata Police illegally.
Police said Dutta allegedly allotted him a police bike.
Police bikes can only be allotted to police personnel and are not meant for the use of civic volunteers.
Former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Sandip Ghosh, was again summoned to the CBI office at the CGO Complex on Tuesday.
Sources in the central agency said Ghosh has already undergone a polygraph test but the CBI had some unanswered queries.
He was also questioned on Monday.
Two CBI teams interrogated Ghosh on Monday once at Nizam Palace and then at the CGO Complex in Salt Lake.
The CBI team probing the financial irregularities at RG Kar questioned several persons including former MSVP Sanjoy Vashishth at their Nizam Palace office on
Tuesday.
The CBI submitted another prayer before the court to add sections of forgery in the case.
On Sunday, this team raided multiple locations across the city looking for leads and evidence related to the alleged financial irregularities.
The CBI took over the probe of the rape and murder on August 13 but is yet to make any arrests.
