Two doctors — an associate professor and a junior medic — deposed before the Sealdah court on the third day of the trial in the RG Kar rape and murder case.

The associate professor, according to the CBI chargesheet, had examined the body of the 31-year-old postgraduate trainee doctor who was raped and killed on August 9 and found her eyes “half-open” and the “pupils dilated and fixed”.

The doctor informed the then principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Sandip Ghosh, and police about the death.

The other doctor reportedly covered the victim’s body with a blanket, acting on the instruction of the senior doctor, the CBI has mentioned in its chargesheet.

The two doctors are among the witnesses named by the prosecution.

The CBI’s list of witnesses has 128 names.

Till now, six witnesses — the victim’s father, a former councillor who is a neighbour of the victim’s family and four doctors — have deposed.

Sanjay Roy, the lone accused chargesheeted so far for the rape and murder,
was brought to the court and allowed to hear the depositions.

Two more witnesses are likely to depose on Thursday.

The trial judge had earlier said the proceedings would be held on four consecutive days from November 11. On Thursday, the court may announce the next dates of the trial.

Food wish

Accused Roy, lodged at Presidency jail, is said to have expressed his wish to eat chicken roll and chowmein from the jail canteen. Sources said his plea was turned down.

Roy is also said to have complained of itchy woollen blankets and sought cloth sheets for use. However, he was not given any cloth blanket, the sources said.

Roy, while being escorted to the court, was seen trying to say something by waving his hands. While coming out, he was heard saying that he had not been allowed to say anything.
