Motorcycle crashes into divider near Baghajatin killing biker and injuring pillion rider

Cops are scanning CCTV cameras in the area to check if any other vehicle was involved in the crash

A young man riding a motorcycle crashed into the median divider of Raja SC Mullick Road near Baghajatin on Tuesday morning.

He succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

Police said Vishal Thakur, 27, a resident of Naktala, was riding his motorcycle at a high speed and could not negotiate the vehicle’s pace before it hit the median divider.

A friend of his who was riding pillion escaped with minor injuries.

Thakur was taken to the Baghajatin State General Hospital where he was declared dead.

Thakur was heading towards Garia from Jadavpur when the accident happened at the Raja SC Mullick Road and Baghajatin hospital crossing.

“The bike hit the median divider at a high speed. The riders were flung off on the road. Thakur received serious injuries on his head,” said a senior police officer of the traffic department.

The police said none of them were wearing helmets.

The cops said they were scanning CCTV cameras in the area to check if any other vehicle was involved in the crash.
