Howrah-Mumbai Mail derailment accident in Jharkhand causes disruptions: Over 50 trains cancelled

The restoration of the tracks is expected to take another 18 to 20 hours, said the spokesperson of South Eastern Railway

The accident involving the Howrah-CSMT Mumbai Mail near Chakradharpur in Jharkhand has forced the cancellation of over 50 trains over the next couple of
days. Many other trains are being diverted, said railway officials.

Eighteen coaches of the Mumbai Mail were derailed in the crash. “The restoration of the tracks is expected to take another 18 to 20 hours,” the spokesperson of South Eastern Railway said on Tuesday.

Many trains from Bengal were delayed because of the accident.

  • 12130 Howrah-Pune Azad Express
  • 18005 Howrah-Jagdalpur Express
  • 08015/18019 Kharagpur-Jhargram-Dhanbad Express
  • 18109 Tatanagar-Itwari Express
  • 12101 LTT Mumbai-Shalimar Express

Wednesday

  • 12262 Howrah-CSMT Mumbai Duronto Express
  • 12871 Howrah-Titlagarh Express
  • 18030 Shalimar-LTT Mumbai Express
  • 12767 Santragachi-Nanded Express
  • 18011 Howrah-Chakradharpur Express

Thursday

  • 02863 Howrah-Yesvantpur Special
  • 18189 Ernakulam-Tatanagar Express

The following trains are among those short-terminated/originated;

  • 18011 Howrah-Chakradharpur Express, which left Howrah on Tuesday, will be short-terminated at Adra
  • 18012 Chakradharpur-Howrah Express on Wednesday will start from Adra
  • 18029 LTT Mumbai-Shalimar Express that left Mumbai on Monday will be short-terminated at Bilaspur
