The school education department said that candidates recommended by the school service commission to join as assistant teachers in government-aided upper primary schools cannot be asked to produce TET admit cards by the district inspectors of schools at the time of joining.
The department also said that schools without managing committees or administrators must immediately take steps to appoint administrators who will complete the formalities so the candidates can join the institutes.
The department issued guidelines after it emerged that many candidates are not being allowed to join because they do not have the TET admit card.
The candidates were also prevented from joining the schools run by drawing and disbursement officers in the absence of the managing committees or administrators.
The candidates alleged that the drawing and disbursement officers said they did
not have the authority to complete the “joining formalities”.
Education minister Bratya Basu on Tuesday said they would soon issue guidelines in the wake of the complaints.
The commission’s chairperson, Siddhartha Majumdar, said: “The department has taken prompt steps in resolving the complication over joining”.
