The post-mortem report has confirmed the presence of alcohol in the stomach of the victim.

Madhurima Roy, 32, was found lying lifeless on the bed on Friday night at Bikash Mandal’s apartment.

Mandal had claimed that earlier when he saw her lying on the bed, he thought she was “sleeping”.

The police have started an unnatural death case.

The family of the deceased, however, has not lodged any complaint, the police said.

Madhurima and her friends had a party on Diwali night on Thursday. Next day she was found “sleeping” on the bed.

Madhurima’s sister had told the police that on Friday evening she went to meet her in the apartment and found her sleeping.

The family lives near Mandal’s apartment.

When Madhurima did not respond, her sister raised an alarm. Mandal immediately informed the police.

Madhurima was taken to MR Bangur Hospital, where she was declared dead.

The family had also dialled 100 to alert the cops.
