Acropolis Mall, a beloved landmark in Calcutta, is preparing to welcome visitors once again from 3rd August. The mall, which has been closed for over a month following a fire incident, is ready to resume its role as a hub of activity along the Rashbehari connector.

Subhadip Basu, General Manager of Acropolis Mall, shared the news: "We've received permission from the fire department and are reopening on 3rd August. About 90% of the mall will be operational, including Cinepolis and the food court. A few brands like Hoppipola, Chili's, and Time Zone will reopen in the coming days due to ongoing renovations."

The closure followed a fire that broke out at Crossword on 14th June. The mall management swiftly evacuated everyone and called the Fire Brigade, who efficiently extinguished the fire. Since then, the authorities have been working tirelessly on restoration and safety measures.

Basu explained, "We've completed all necessary repairs and upgrades to our electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, lifts, and escalators. The fire safety work is also finished. We're now conducting deep cleaning and mock fire safety drills."

Since its opening in 2015, Acropolis Mall has been a key economic driver in South Calcutta, attracting an average daily footfall of 15,000 people. The mall houses 99 offices of multinational and national brands, creating a bustling business hub in the area.

"Acropolis Mall provides employment to over 4,000 people and houses more than 110 outlets and shops," Basu added. "We used to generate an annual business of 700 crore, with a similar amount of business happening in the neighbourhood outlets. This contributes over 100 crore yearly in GST and other taxes."

Local businesses, including shops, eateries, cafes, and restaurant chains, are eagerly anticipating the mall's reopening, hopeful that it will bring back the regular crowds and restore the vibrancy of the area.
