Jeevan Singha, the self-styled chief of banned terror outfit Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO, has reportedly released a video clip where he criticises chief minister Mamata Banerjee and Trinamul all-India general secretary Abhishek Banerjee.
“We want a separate state but both Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee are speaking against it. They should understand that it is our longstanding demand. We are not ready to accept the decision made by Calcutta-based leaders,” Singha said in the clip that surfaced on social media two days ago.
Earlier this month, at a public meeting in Dhupguri of Jalpaiguri district, Abhishek asserted that he as well as his party would not let Bengal be divided. “Under no circumstances will we allow any partition of the state. Those advocating such demands should bear it in mind. There is no north or south Bengal here but only one… West Bengal,” Abhishek said.
Mamata has also spoken on the issue often, criticising the BJP for playing a divisive card. She had also made it clear that her government is not ready to hold talks with the KLO.
In the video, Singha appeared to warn Trinamul leaders of north Bengal.
“Some leaders who live in our region (north Bengal) but are ardent followers of the leaders in Calcutta and act
on their orders should be
alert. We won’t tolerate any move that affects our interest.”
