Three persons have been arrested on Sunday in connection with the firing at a realtor in Sukantanagar of Siliguri late on August 15.

The arrested trio of Sushil Saha, Bappa Saha and Choton Saha are residents of Chayanpara, on the outskirts of Siliguri, and related to Bidyut Saha, the land dealer who was shot at on his chest by two criminals.

It appears Saha was shot at over a property dispute and his relatives had allegedly hired gunmen. Saha is under treatment at a private nursing home. His daughter had filed a complaint with Ashighar police outpost.

“We initiated a probe and have arrested three persons in connection with the incident. Among the trio, one is an uncle of Bidyut Saha while the other two are his cousins,” said Joy Tudu, a deputy commissioner of Siliguri Metropolitan Police.

“We have recorded the statements of the victim and the trio. We need to interrogate them further for more information. It seems they had hired shooters who had fired at the victim,” said a police source. Police are checking CCTV footage of the area and are in search of another cousin of Saha suspected to be involved in the attack.
