Iskcon authorities have said industrialist Sajjan Jindal will help set up the Chaitanya Cultural World Heritage Centre and head a special committee to oversee the flagship project.
The project by the Iskcon will come up over 700 acres in Nabadwip and Mayapur in Nadia.
Sources said the JSW Group chairman had met the Iskcon’s Ambarish Das — better known as Alfred Ford, the grandson of Henry Ford — in Mayapur on Sunday and agreed to be part of the Rs 3,000 crore project.
Iskcon spokesperson Subroto Das said: “Jindal will help us in the World Heritage Centre project.”
According to the sources, Jindal expressed his desire to oversee its construction and allied activities as an “advisor”. “He also agreed to helm a committee that would oversee the project,” said a source.
The sources said the visit of Jindal to Mayapur was kept under the wraps.
