The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations on Thursday deferred all ICSE and ISC exams till at least March 31 because of the coronavirus outbreak.
The council has contacted the heads of all ISC schools and asked them to immediately alert the students, teachers and parents concerned about the deferment.
The ISC sociology exam, which was scheduled for Thursday, was not held.
“In view of the Novel Corona virus (COVID-19) spreading across the country and with much uncertainty and speculation in the air, the Council, in the interest of the health and well-being of the students and the teaching community, has decided to postpone all ICSE and ISC Year 2020 Examinations scheduled to be conducted between the period 19th March 2020 to 31st March 2020,” the notice reads.
The notice said the new dates would be announced later. The ICSE exams were to end on March 30 and the ISC exams on March 31.
Council secretary and chief executive Gerry Arathoon said: “The chief examiners will have to keep the answer scripts ready for distribution. Too many examiners must not be called to collect the answer scripts at a time. They should not be kept waiting for a long time.”
The CBSE had on Wednesday deferred all remaining Class X and XII papers till March 31.
