Rumpa Roy, the wife of Havilder Bipul Roy who was among the 20 Indian soldiers killed in the June 15 Galwan Valley clash, met the district magistrate here on Wednesday and told him she would take up the job offered by the state government.
Rumpa came with daughter Tamanna, 7.
The state government offered the kin of Bengal’s two slain soldiers, Bipul and Rajesh Orang, Rs 5 lakh each, and a government job to one family member. Rajesh’s sister took up the job offer earlier. On Wednesday, Rumpa said her family had decided she should have the job.
Last Friday, Bipul’s mortal remains were brought at his home and his last rites conducted with full honours.
