Senior police officers led by Jayanta Pal, the deputy inspector general of police of Raiganj range, visited the eatery near Kaliaganj where the woman who was allegedly gang-raped works.

The cops spoke to the owner and employees of the eatery and also visited the place where the woman was allegedly raped by two drunk men, identified as Shibu Burman and Sujan Burman.

The woman was walking home from the eatery on December 31 night when Shibu and Sujan allegedly waylaid and raped her. She was again allegedly raped by a taxi driver named Nakul Mohanta, who offered her a lift home.

“We have held two persons (Shibu and Nakul) and are looking for the third accused. Our officers visited the spot and spoke with the eatery’s owner and some others,” said Pal.
