Former Left Front minister and CPM leader Manab Mukherjee breathed his last in Calcutta on Tuesday morning. He was 67.
Mukherjee had been battling multiple ailments for a few years. On Tuesday morning, Mukherjee suffered a heart attack at his residence and was rushed to a hospital, where he died soon.
“After a long battle for life, Comrade Manab Mukherjee has left us,” CPM state secretary Md Salim said.
Several CPM leaders recalled Mukherjee’s skills as a public speaker and ability to write on a wide range of ideological issues. “He has several books to his credit,” said a DYFI leader.
Mukherjee was first elected to the Assembly in 1987 from Beliaghata.
