The Uttarbanga Sanskritik Parishad, a Siliguri-based cultural organisation, will host a five–day theatre fest at the Dinabandhu Mancha here later this month.
The event, “Natyotsav 2024”, will have many theatre groups, including those from Calcutta, as participants.
“This year, we will organise the five-day theatre festival here from December 13. The organisation will celebrate its silver jubilee year in 2025. This fest will be a part of our preparatory programme,” Gautam Deb, the Siliguri mayor, told the media at the Bangiya Sahitya Parishad here on Monday.
Deb, who is the chief adviser to the Parishad, said it started its journey in the year 2000, and since then, hosted many cultural events with eminent thespians and artistes.
“We hosted a cultural night of acclaimed singer Manna Dey at the indoor stadium here. It was his last performance on stage,” he said.
The organisers said that on December 13, the Naihati Bratyajan will stage Dadar Kirti, and Malda Theatre Platform Jagaran Pala the day after.
In the remaining days, Abhi Raat Baki Hai by Rangakarmee, Romeo and Juliet by Anya Theatre, and Macbeth by Shorobhuj, all Calcutta-based groups, would be staged.
