The wife of Nadia Trinamul Congress leader Motirul Islam who had been murdered on Thursday blamed his two colleagues in the party for the killing.
Motirul’s wife Rina Khatun Biswas lodged a complaint at Nowda police station in Murshidabad on Friday. The complaint accused Nadia Trinamul’s women’s wing leader and zilla parishad member Tina Saha Bhowmick and Murshidabad’s Nowda block president Safiur Zaman Seikh for being directly involved in the murder, along with eight others. Safiur is a nephew of Trinamul’s Murshidabd MP Abu Taher Khan.
Rina, who is also a Trinamul leader and the chief of the party-ruled Narayanchandrapur 2 gram panchayat, said: “Political activities of my husband hampered the personal interests of Tina and others. That had created a threat to his life. The conspiracy to kill my husband became successful yesterday.”
Motirul was shot from a close range and hacked by assailants near a ferry ghat in Nowda on Thursday.
