Experts from the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute in Darjeeling will provide training on rock climbing in Siliguri in association with the local civic body.

Gp Capt. Jai Kishan, the HMI principal, held a meeting with Gautam Deb, the Siliguri mayor, on Saturday to discuss the proposed joint initiative.

The training will take place at the Surya Sen Park on the left bank of the Mahananda river, where a 13.5 metres high was built in 2014 to facilitate rock climbing. The HMI, sources said, will prepare a detailed project report of the training programme and submit it to the civic authorities by the end of next week.
